The 3-DVG visual self test .

1 Before trying it with your fingers, take the 3-DVG visual self test illustrated above. Following a successful outcome of the test, go ahead with step 2 below.

2 The easy way to do it: using your curled fingers. Pictures (a) and (b) illustrate this technique. In Picture (a) the triangular openings formed when the fingers are curled are shown circled in red. If these openings are operated in accordance with the "visual self test" mentioned above but substituting your fingers in place of the business

cards, [see Picture (b)], excellent results can be achieved. You will find that virtually any clean non-fuzzy hole, no matter what its shape, will generate a surprising good stereoscopic display.

This technique comes easily if you train for a few seconds using the training model with 1/2 inch diameter holes. Using 1/2 inch diameter holes makes a person realize that the inner edge of a pinhole can be simulated by the edge of a finger (or any elongated object). Begin by positioning a finger directly in front of

the pupil of each eye, directly blocking your main central vision. Then, move both fingers slowly towards each other (i.e., move them in a nasal direction) while keeping the fingers parallel. You will notice that the dark region directly blocking your vision is shrinking in size. Stop moving your fingers when the dark region has shrunk to zero. Look for the 3-D effect.
